2004–2005.

Minera Barrick is developing an open pit mine in Alto Chicama, Peru, for the production of gold from the portion of oxides of a mineral deposit, which they refer to as Alto Chicama Project. To this end, Skanska carried out soil movement operations in the region and installed geosynthetics and drains for the construction of the Heap Leach Facilities (HLF).
The project became a major challenge, mainly due to its reduced execution schedule. The Company developed its tasks with 240 construction equipment units and 1.000 people. And with full commitment to quality, safety and environmental protection, something which has been reflected in the recognition received from the Client, for having reached 2,000,000 man-hours worked without any time-loss accidents.
