Skanska Latin America is one of the main reference points in the development of road and transport infrastructure in several countries of the Region. In these segments, the Skanska Group is developing some of its major activities in the world. Among the Company´s background here we can highlight:design and construction of highways, repaving and maintenance of roads, execution of bridges and road access works. The Company has also developed projects for road concession contracts, working jointly with Skanska BOT, a Business Unit integrated within the Skanska Group, and responsible for financing and later on operating those projects. Within the telecommunications segment, Skanska executes infrastructure projects for the operating companies. |

Santiago de Chile North
– South Highway
The Public Works Ministry of Chile decided to find a solution to the problem of traffic and smog in the city of Santiago . As an answer to this, Skanska was chosen to design and build a 60.5 km-long highway connecting the north and south areas of the city, made up of three expressways plus two service collector lines per lane, 35 transversal bridges for vehicles, 9 traffic distributors, 22 stations for toll telecollection (with the modern Free Flow system), lighting, service areas and parks. |
