As an answer to new market needs, YPF had to start producing larger quantities of fuel. Among the alternatives of actions to be taken in order that such objectives be met, YPF hired Skanska for reconverting its La Plata refinery . By having this project executed, the client prevented major imports of products as well as the construction of new plants. Skanska carried out the construction of vacuum units (5.000 m3/day), coke units (3.600 m3/day), catalytic cracking (4.500 m3/day), diesel gasoline hydro-treatment (1.500 m3/day), amines (1201 Tn/day) and Merox (2.700 Tn/day).
