Petroquímica Bahía Blanca, a consortium led by Dow Chemical, hired Skanska for the construction of a petrochemical plant that produces ethylene starting from ethane and propane, with a 420,000 –ton capacity per year. The Company was in charge of detailed engineering, part of the purchases, construction management and construction. Also, the Company was responsible for soil movement, pilework, concrete foundations, pre-engineered buildings, HVAC, isolation, paint and fire protection, among other activities. The plant was designed based on thermal cracking of natural gas in specially designed furnaces, using DOW technology.
